Broadhurst Wetland Extension

The primary aim of the project is to create new “open water habitat” which the local community can have access to all year round. At present the site is generally very wet trhoughout the summer and flooded during the winter in order to make the site accessible year round a considerable amount of drainage is required. Rather than diverting the water into the main drainage system site investigations have shown a natural clay layer which will allow 3 – 4 wetland scrapes to be established. Alongside this is a new foot path which is raised above the existing ground level will be installed as will in site educational boards and educational information material which will enable the site warden to undertake warden lead school and community visits.
