Brookdale Park Pond Improvements

The pond at Brookdale Park had suffered from years of neglect and had become an eyesore and a place to avoid. The pond was filled with man made rubbish (cycle frames, car tyres, bottles, bricks and assorted plastic waste) together with large amounts of leaf litter and branches. The aim of the project is to further improve the aesthetics of the pond, increase its biodiversity and use as an educational resource. We will do this by:- Building a dipping platform Planting of pond and marginal plants Improve the immediate surrounding area in the park by clearing back footpaths of vegetation and restoring the footpath surfaces by scraping back years of leaf litter which has turned into a deep mud.
