Broughton Welfare Field

The Welfare Field has been a public amentity since 1924. The Parish Council has recently secured a 75 year lease on the field from Allerdale District Council. For the past 40 years the Parish Council has met the maintenance costs of the field and the play equipment installed at one end.
The aim of this project is to modernise the field along the lines of a plan that was drawn up by Groundwork West Cumbria in 2004. The field will be drained, drainage installed, then relaid and seeded. The area will be fenced during completion of the works.
