Brownings Orchard Regeneration

Brownings Orchard was the historic cider and perry provider for the Kings Head in the village centre of Eastington Gloucestershire. This land was acquired by Cottesway Housing Association on which they have built seven low cost housing units The area behind these houses, approximately ¾ acre is effectively cut off and unsuitable for further housing development at present.
Eastington Community Orchard group are proposing to utilise this land to create a public accessible space in the village centre that will include a managed orchard of around 45 specimen fruit trees, specifically Gloucestershire varieties. The project itself will provide the opportunity for local volunteer labour of all ages to get involved in its creation and using the expertise gained by current ECO members in creating its first orchard.
