Projects / Buckden footpath

Buckden footpath

The project is to lift and replace the main footpath through the village hall grounds, making them safe and secure. The Village Hall grounds sit at the nexus of a series of footpaths that cross the village, providing an important route from the north to south of the village and is heavily used by everyone from sports teams to walkers to school children. The path is 30 years old, crumbling and not mobility compliant, with a width of less than 20 cm, deeply rutted with unstable edges. The path regularly floods making it impassable and unusable.
The applicants have discussed with contractors how to incorporate environmentally friendly materials. The land around the path will be raised and reinforced to reduce flooding and damaging the vegetation. Keeping users on the path and off the muddy surrounds will improve land sustainability.
