Bugeilyn Nature Reserve

Project has 2 objectives-
1 To safeguard the features of conservation interest of Bugeilyn Lake as one of the few remaining nationally important ‘Brown trout wilderness fisheries’ for the next ten years
2 To ensure that the ‘grouse moorland’ which extends to some 5,000 hectares across the Bugeilyn Estate, surrounding the lake is managed appropriately to maintain and increase the population of red Grouse for non shooting purposes for the next ten years.
As the leading conservation organisation in Montgomeryshire, the Trust considers that the conservation importance of the lake and moorland are of significant conservation status for direct conservation action. Both comonents support both local and national Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) habitats and species as detailed in the UK BAP and therefore merit such action
