Bures Skateboard Facility Project, Bures Joint Sportsground Committee (a joint committee of Bures St Mary and Bures Hamlet Parish Councils)

The proposed project aims to establish a new skateboarding facility for children and young people in Bures and the surrounding area. Responding to local demand, the Sportsground Committee seeks to provide an inclusive and engaging space for skateboarding enthusiasts. The project is designed to complement the existing recreational offerings in the village while remaining in proportion to its size.

This facility will offer unrestricted access for social and recreational use, catering to both novice and experienced skateboarders. While Bures currently provides opportunities for team sports such as football, cricket, tennis, and pickleball, these activities do not appeal to all young people. The addition of a skateboarding facility will ensure that those who prefer independent, skill-based sports also have a dedicated space. Furthermore, engagement in structured physical activities has been shown to reduce instances of anti-social behaviour. Local police officers have been consulted and support the initiative as a positive step toward community well-being.
