Burghill Tillington and Weobley Cricket Club - Battery powered cordless pitch mower

This project is to purchase and implement a fully electric, battery-powered, cordless cylinder mower. The mower will be charged exclusively using electricity generated by the Clubs on-site PV solar system, ensuring 100% renewable operation. This project builds on major investments the Club has already made, including a battery-powered outfield robot mower, and LED lighting with motion-sensor switches.

Burghill, Tillington & Weobley Cricket Club is a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC), accredited with the Clubmark award for high standards in coaching, welfare, and community engagement. They run three mixed senior teams, four mixed junior teams, and a dedicated girls’ team— the junior section includes over 100 children. Alongside 75 adult players and 350 social members, they also host matches free of charge for the Royal National College for the Blind and the Echo charity, offering inclusive cricket experiences for players with disabilities. Maintaining the cricket square requires daily attention, currently performed with petrol-powered equipment that is costly and environmentally harmful. Transitioning to a battery-powered mower powered by the solar array will reduce energy costs, decrease emissions, and make operations greener and quieter.

The mower will be stored in a secure shed with CCTV coverage. It will be insured under the machinery cover in the Clubs content policy.
