Burton Dean Park Project

The Burton Dean Park project is an opportunity to expand upon work already carried out by the community [creations of allotments, footpaths and orchard]. To construct wider paths with an improved wearing course both from North Road and Burton Dean would improve accessibility of the site and give a framework of routes on which to construct an outdoor ‘trim trail’ at the heart of Kirkburton. Surprisingly little known, even to many local people, the meadow opens up breath-taking woodland vistas across the valley. The proposed path improvement will reinforce the identity of BDP as a recreational space, fully integrated into the network of open spaces including Town Quarry which is directly accessible from the park. With new opportunities for health and leisure, BDPwill become a much more attractive destination to a wider range of local people. Connecting Highburton to the centre of Kirkburton via Town Quarry, Burton Dean Park provides an important and attractive off road link to each village centre.
