Calder Future: Elland Park Lock

Calder Future provides a co-ordinated approach to river improvements and provides opportunities for those live and work beside the waterways in Calderdale to participate in practical projects on the ground. The Calder and Hebber Navigation runs 21 miles from Wakefield to Sowerby Bridge. With 27 locks, it connects the Aire and Calder Navigation (Wakefield), the Rochdale Canal (Sowerby Bridge), and Huddersfield Broad Canal. It was never closed and remains extremely popular with leisure boaters, walkers, cyclists and naturalists. Following a Public Meeting, the project will improve the environs of Elland Park Lock (former lock-keeper’s cottage) well known on the outskirts of Halifax
