Calder Holmes Park, Hebden Bridge

This park serves the local and tourist needs of a famous town in a steep sided Pennine valley. Because of the topography of the surrounding landscape, public greenspace is in short supply. Houses are literally built on top of each other on narrow streets without gardens. The small park is faced with catering for a diverse range of needs including families from the surrounding hilltop villages. The community is looking at innovative approaches to best use this key public area in a creative and inclusive way within the space available. The much loved and over used playground (one of the top three most used) is shabby and run down.
