Calne Baptist Church – New Community Centre

We are planning to build a new community centre and church on our existing site in Castle Street, Calne. This site also backs onto Castlefields Park. Our intention is to build flexible community spaces which we would use for Worship on Sunday but be available for community use the rest of the week. Currently several community groups use our building which is no longer “fit for purpose”.

The new building will provide modern and practical accommodation for many more groups which we will make available at “village hall” rates, or at no cost , something that is needed in Calne. The development will include a café and toilets to serve Castlefields Park which is well used but has no nearby facilities. We are going to include a “changing place” which currently Calne does not have anywhere in the town!

The outcomes will be as follows:

The project will improve:
No of people using the building 3 groups:
Park users visiting the café and toilet.
No of organisations using the buildings (either by hiring them or using them at no cost).
Numbers of events we organise for the town.
Numbers at the events we organise for the town.

This will be a phased project to help pay for the Steel Works needed for the structure of the building.

The project will provide a much needed community space for Calne and will be well used.
