Projects / Calverley Commemorative Park

Calverley Commemorative Park

The project involves the transformation of an area of rough pasture into a park to commemorate the local villagers who gave their lives in World War 1. This includes planting two avenues of specimen trees under planted with wildflowers and the installation of two stone memorials listing soldiers from Calverley and Farsley who died in the war. The project has been divided into two phases. Phase 1 involves the purchase and planting of 51 lime and 95 silver birch trees in lines to create the memorial avenues. Phase 2 involves the sowing of a mixture of cornflower and poppy seed under the trees and the installation of two bespoke memorial stones. The Landfill Communities funding would be used for the Phase 2 works.
