Cambourne Green Spaces

The aim of the project is to improve access and maintain high quality recreational space at Cambourne Nature Reserve for the benefit of the local community. The nature reserve’s woodlands, lakes and meadows are criss-crossed by a network of well-used footpaths and bridleways, some of which are washed out in places due to heavy rain last year. Access to green space is essential to health and wellbeing and is the reason why many families have chosen to live in Cambourne, which demonstrates how green spaces can be accommodated within a new development. In order to encourage the rapidly expanding young population to use the green space responsibly and develop a sense of ownership of it, we need to make sure that it is attractive, well-maintained and safe. To improve the recreational green spaces we will repair and resurface paths, maintain benches, culverts and ditches, mow and control weeds and manage hedges and trees.
