Cambridge Buddhist Centre

Comprehensive repointing and brickwork repairs at the Cambridge Buddhist Centre, a Grade II* listed building built in 1814-16, which is one of only four surviving Georgian theatres in the country. Cambridge Buddhist Centre is based in a historic listed building that needs constant repair and renovation. The funds will be used for repointing and brickwork and chimney repairs, done in a historically sensitive way to ensure the brickwork can breathe to prevent damp/ further brickwork deterioration. If done correctly the work won’t need to be repeated for over 100 years.

In the last few years, the organisation has been experiencing damp issues in several parts of the building, including plaster damage to internal walls, evidence of damp and mould growth and peeling paint. Blown bricks and crumbling mortar found during a full condition survey prove that remedial work to the external walls and full repointing of the building to make it more weatherproof is now urgently needed.
