Canal Wood – Enhancements for Everyone

Local people have identified and led on developing plans with the Woodland Trust to make Canal Wood a better used facility for the local community and will become a more pleasant place to visit and see wildlife during healthy regular walks. Plans include:
1. Creating new circular path, using gravel, and building boardwalks to overcome excessive wetness in parts of the site.
2. Replacing three slippery wooden bridges with permanent stone bridges.
3. Working with local children to design and install new interpretation.
4. Developing volunteer skills to ensure long term sustainability of the project site.
5. Improving 2 entrances to make them more appealing and attract people in from the canal towpath route.
