Canonbury Gardens, London – Manna Forest Garden Project (2606/D)

The project will take place in Canonbury Gardens a public park in Islington. Currently there is a disused pond with some plants but mainly weeds. The project will turn this space into an edible forest garden, emulating natural woodland ecosystems. The project will incorporate a path, wildlife habitats and use planting guilds so plants provide mutual support and share resources with each other, much like people in a community. These plants will be edible, feeding both the wildlife and human visitors to the space. Signage would be used to inform and educate the community of the project, forest garden system and the wildlife habitants. The Trust grant will contribute towards the garden project.
