Carbrook Ravine

The project will deliver a programme of habitat management (LBAP habitat and species) on Carbrook Ravine Nature Reserve as part of the wider Living Don Landscape Programme. The project in particular would develop and enhance wetland areas, contributing to increased storage of water. The works will involve:

Excavation of wetland area to prevent displacement by dry grassland and scrub.
Control of willow and birch scrub areas to prevent succession into open wetland habitat.
Creation of new pool and wetland areas.
Tree and scrub growth contained
Japanese knotweed eradicated
75m hedge laid

Ecological monitoring and community engagement including: volunteer workdays; guided walks and family events on site will accompany the capital works. This will engage local people and raise awareness of the ecological importance of the site and the importance of good wetland management in relation to flooding.
