Carlisle Cathedral Repairs

Carlisle Cathedral was founded in 1122 and is the second smallest Cathedral in England. The Cathedral is a major tourist attraction in the centre of Carlisle within a conservation area. A daily service has been held for the past 900 years and there are currently four daily services each day. The project is to carry out urgent and essential masonry repairs to the East End of the Cathedral, including repairs to the window tracery and attention to decayed statues. The detailed carving work will be undertaken by a specialist stonemason. Work will also include some wiring and lighting improvements.
