Carlton and Oulton Marshes – Visitor and Volunteer Improvements

This project is for improvements to the visitor and volunteer at the Carlton and Oulton Reserve.
Specifically:
Installation of 2,300m of stock fencing and gap up 600m of native hedgerow to create a stock proof central enclosure, surrounded by a green corridor on the 8ha reserve extension.
Construct a 200m2 steel framed, wood clad volunteer workshop and machinery compound, adjacent to Burnt Hill Lane, to secure the future management of the whole reserve.
Install interpretation panels and trail map at the car park and welcome signs at the two entrances to the new trail, to encourage people onto the new trail and off the SSSI marshes.
Move an earth bank to link the new land to the existing reserve car park and install a low level viewing area to create a sense of arrival at a place which is all about wildlife.
