Carlton – Valley Road Recreation Ground Play Area Refurbishment

To provide a complete refurbished play area including renovation of some existing equipment, removal of the rest of the old equipment and replacing it with new equipment, new surfacing, furniture and fencing.
The refurbishment will provide a safe and accessible, good quality local play space for all users, particularly new users with disabilities.
The existing railings will be sanded down and painted, reducing the need to replace with new railings. A more sustainable approach by refurbishing them. The new play area surfacing will be made from recycled car tyres, therefore reducing imports of new materials as is the case with traditional wetpour surfacing. The suppliers use recycled materials in their manufacture of the equipment. All excavated materials will be re-used on site, minimising the amount taken to landfill sites. Where possible materials will be sourced locally, reducing travel, transportation and carbon emissions.
