Carrick Characters Trail

The object of the Carrick Characters project is to create a trail throughout Carrick that links communities to each other and encourages both visitors and local people to explore more within Carrick. Each community will have their own icon as part of that trail and linkage. These linkages will allow for activities to happen between all and sometimes a few distinct communities (e.g. coastal links) but as a whole, the communities make up the equally uniique identity of Carrick
The Project will:
* Work with residents in 17 communities to identify local ‘characters’ (cultural, historical of natural ‘icons’ that are significant to each of the communities)
* Commission and co-ordinate artists
Over see installation of artworks and interpretation in public spaces in the 17 communities creating focal points for local people and for visitors.
Explore the potential to augment local icons with a large scale Carrick Icon with funding support from e.g. SUSTRANS ‘Art in the travelling landscape’ programme.
