Carrick Invasives Weed Project

Ayrshire Rivers Trust (ART) seeks to develop a two year project to promote the sustainable control of invasive species within the Carrick area. Included within the project will be the Girvan & Stinchar catchments and coastal burns between the two main river catchments. The ultimate aim of the project is to control and eventually remove invasive species from within the Carrick area. This is essentially a rural skills project, community members will be trained and equipped to enable the community to take control of this issue. A range of native biodiversity will benefit from the project including riparian plants, ground nesting birds and water voles.
The project will run over two years with a funded project officer based within the project area.
