Castle Community Gardens, Friends of Castlefort, Walsall Wood, Walsall

This is a project to provide an accessible arena for outdoor leisure, play and recreation activities within the community in and around Castlefort School in Aldridge.The school site is used by the local community, its children and their parents for numerous activities and events, as well as uniformed groups, football clubs, special interest groups and societies. The school values its role as a true hub of the community and has adopted an Open Access Policy to help develop and improve the facilities that can be offered for community use. The planned improvements to the school include rain and shade canopies to enable use of the site throughout the year, landscape enhancements including a nature trail, and a garden to encourage wildlife, and arena for play and community performance and a wooden activity play frame.
