Castle Espie Habitat Restoration and Creation

To restore and create the “Wadermarsh” saltmarsh at Castle Espie. A key area of the site but currently failing to realise its biodiversity potential. Saltmarsh is a rare habitat in Northern Ireland and many species found at this site are near the limit of their range. We will: • Lower and re-profile three islands • Lay geotextile membrane on shingle ridge bordering the Western edge of Wadermarsh and top with 10cm of shingle.
