CDA Community Garden for St Albans

The Community Development Agency (CDA) aims to develop a community garden enabling many people who live in urban St Albans to have the opportunity to get close to nature and the environment. The garden will provide the opportunity to improve the quality of life of these people by creating a new communtiy space where they can meet new people and enabling them to acquire as well as potentially develop skills in the cultivation of vegetables and fruit. An additional aim is to help people acquire a better understanding of the environment/wildlife by developing the land under cultivation with the interests of wildlife in mind. A longer term aim will include encouraging beneficiaries of the project to continue to use their new skills by taking on an allotment or growing food at home and/or by helping others to acquire growing skills both at the garden and elsewhere.
