Centre 63, Kirby – Multi Use Games Area (006301)

The project aims is to undertake a significant improvement that will increase sports participation for the community, with a focus on reducing participation barriers for the most underrepresented groups within Kirkby and the wider Knowsley Borough.

The project will specifically transform a dilapidated Playcourt located at the rear of the Centre into a Multi-Use Games area (MUGA) which will be accessible 7 days per week. The current play court has uneven tarmac floor, broken fencing and three of our four floodlights are damaged beyond repair.

The new MUGA will be an all-weather, floodlit, community based facility marked out for Football, Basketball and Tennis which will enhance the provision of sport and leisure activities in the area where safe and inclusive facilities are lacking. It will also offer training and volunteering opportunities for community members to increase their health/wellbeing and attain sport’s leadership qualifications.
