Chalk Grassland Biodiversity: Dukes v’s Blues Phase 2

A research/practical project at five chalk grassland sites in Bedfordshire. Work will include surveying sites for key chalk grassland species such as Small Blue and Duke of Burgundy Butterfly, detailed GIS mapping, testing different management prescriptions at the sites, and the impact this management has on key species, across 133ha of chalk grassland habitat.

The project addresses targets for the restoration and management of Lowland calcareous grassland, a UK BAP priority habitat, to benefit a range of key chalk grassland indicator species.

The project would be carried out by a part time project officer and include significant local volunteer involvement.
