Chalks & Cherries

The Chalk and Cherries project will protect, improve and regenerate approximately 7ha of valuable Lowland Calcareous (chalk) Grassland at the Cherry Hinton Chalk Pits and Beechwoods nature reserves near Cambridge. Lowland calcareous grassland has suffered a sharp decline nationally and locally over the last 50 years and is the subject of a UK Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) and a Cambridgeshire Local BAP.
