Characterisation of Used Railway Ballast Waste for Recycling

To establish a reliable view of the chemical make-up & structure of railway ballast, & relate this to the variations in composition expected with depth, due to soil mixing, & with distance from the track centreline & local environment. This in turn will support the use of railway ballast as a secondary aggregate.
