Charlotte Pagsy Path Improvement Project

Knowsley Council is requesting funding to improve accessibility to the green space surrounding the Shevington Estate. The adjoining green spaces, know as The Pagsy, and Saxon Green form a 10ha block of grassland, scrub and mature woodland. There is a play area and a mixture of surfaced and unsurfaced paths. Following a community consultation which attracted 76 responses a plan has been created to improve the green space. It involves opening up and improving one of the access points to reduce the likelihood of it being used for anti social behaviour and the surfacing of 1580 metres of footpath. The footpaths will be less muddy and more suitable for cycling but it does seem a bit of a shame to be surfacing so many of the footpaths in what appears to be a good area for wildlife, particularly when there are already a lot of surfaced paths in the area.
