Charlotte Turner Gardens, Deptford – Toddler Play Area (2932/D)

The project aims to provide a toddlers play area that will be installed in a fenced area of the park set aside for family use and older people. Play features include a spiral of timber, boulders as climbing and stepping features up to a slightly raised central deck area – the prow of a ship and planting. Two sound posts will provide an additional feature. The spiral will be flanked on its south side by a sculpted ‘sea monster’; an artist will be appointed to work with neighbouring schools to develop decorative designs reflecting our local history; extending the overall design theme referencing the River Thames and its continued importance in the locality. Grasses planted on its eastern flank will create a low screen between the play feature and the public path. Additional seating will be provided for parents and older people. Fragrant plants will be included to provide for people with limited sight.

The Trust grant will contribute towards the toddler play area.
