Cheddar Gorge Pathway Restoration

We will carry out urgent repair works to the Cheddar Gorge footpath. The footpath is over 10 years old and
seriously degraded due to high footfall (see Figure A) and is now unsafe, particularly in wet conditions. The Gorge
is much loved and well-used by the 10,000 walkers who access the site monthly to enjoy and engage with the
landscape.
This is a three-phase project. We’ve completed phases one and two and this third phase will restore 208 steps to
improve access for local people.
