Chellaston Community Centre, Derby – Toilet Refurbishment (005592)

The Association has identified the main toilets, installed nearly 30 years ago as in need of modernisation, these are separate to the disabled facilities. Although operational they are a key concern regarding regular breakdowns as well as being a source of water leakage. The plumbing systems do not provide any measures to reduce water consumption whether this be through flushing or via the hand taps. Hygiene standards are also an issue with surface mounted pipework displayed throughout the toilet area as well as no wall or floor tiling. In addition a frequent occurrence is the leaving of lights on in the toilets overnight. This project will strip out the existing equipment and install energy saving led lighting activated by sensors to switch on and off. The same number of toilet units would be fitted however these would be high efficiency toilets reducing the level of water usage. Vanity units and modular cubicles along with full tiling will improve hygiene standards.
