Chimney Meadows Extension

Chimney Meadows Nature Reserve is one of BBOWT’s flagship nature reserves and is a true haven for species of rare and declining wildlife such as curlew, otter and water vole. Since the purchase of Chimney Meadows in 2003, we have been converting the arable land on site back to species-rich floodplain meadows. An opportunity has arisen to purchase 11 hectares of land next to the reserve known as Upper Common. The purchase of this land would give us an opportunity to further improve the wet grassland habitats on the site, as we would be able to control the water levels and flood the meadows through the winter.
