Christ Church Community Hall, Cosham – Community Hall Improvement (007522)

The hall enables the church to engage with the local community and provides a venue for many other important social activities. It dates from the 1930s. A solid wood floor of approx 176 sq m, installed 30+ years ago, has suffered water damage and is no longer reparable. Further problems were identified when it was lifted. Asbestos has been cleared and dry rot treated. This project will provide a suitable floor and restore the hall to its proper use. Without a floor the hall is unusable. Prior to the COVID lockdown, the premises provided accommodation for groups catering for all ages from toddler groups to meals for older people, including sports activities (badminton and judo) community choirs and dance groups, children’s activities, support for military veterans etc. Its restoration will enable these activities to recommence.
