Christ Church, Healey – Tower and Spire Repairs and restoration

The 2009 the Quinquennial inspection report highlighted an urgent need for repairs especially to the Church spire, tower and areas of water ingress through the West wall of the tower into the ringing chamber which appears largely due to the deteriorating condition of the external pointing and poor condition of the guttering and rain water goods. Corroding steel work within the upper space of the tower is now compromising the stability and if left serious damage could occur to the masonry. Our project aims to repair and restore the spire and associated bell housing and ringing chamber. It also aims to restore the external pointing, guttering and rainwater goods to prevent further decay of the historic fabric of the building and further damage to areas around the large west window. New electrical installations within the tower , including the access stairs, bell ringing chamber and belfry are required.
