Christ Church United Reformed Church, Rayleigh

The project aims to install a 9.8Kwp solar photovoltaic system on the south facing pitched roof of the church. Electricity generated will be used throughout the building first, and any excess exported to the national grid. A large public display unit will be mounted in the church entrance to show the amount of energy being generated and the reduction levels of CO2. Data will be downloaded to the church website for monitoring both on and off site. There will be 43 panels covering about one half of the main roof. Inverters (which convert the solar generated power into AC electricity) and control equipment will be located within the building. The panels are maintenance free so no additional running costs will be incurred.
