Projects / Church Hall solar panels

Church Hall solar panels

Installation of Solar PV roof system both to secure the future of a valuable community amenity and for environmental benefits.
The work consists of 12 panels on the south facing roof. Because the roof isn’t felted, it is required that the panelled section needs to be upgraded.

The community benefit of the building (see https://ubwby.org/church-hall-gym/) is:
i) a large hall space for a wide variety of community activities benefiting both young and old
ii) a gym (with ca.70 members)
iii) a meeting room which is heavily used for therapy sessions.

Some 200 people, both adults and children, are benefiting weekly from this facility (see attached user testimonials). However the hall floor will need major work (estimated cost £30,000) in a few years (patchwork repairs are already necessary) without which the hall would have to close on safety grounds. The £1000/year utility saving from the project will allow a sinking fund to be built up to manage this calamity. Environmentally, the project is scoped consistent with the Hall’s electricity usage.
