Church Wood Naturally – introducing grazing for traditional habitat management

The management of neutral grassland (UK BAP Habitat) at Church Wood Nature Reserve through the introduction of a sustainable grazing regime to keep the scrub clear and return the meadow to a more favourable state. This will develop the diversity of wildflowers, which in turn will increase bird, mammal and invertebrate numbers. By instigating this management scheme, we will be adding value to the work Hedgerley conservation volunteers have completed in neighbouring meadows, expanding the amount of good condition, neutral grassland in the area.
