City Park Water Management and Enhancement Project

Craigavon Council has invested significantly in the provision of high quality shore based facilities at the City Park, Craigavon, Access through new car parking, signage and fishing stands provides a welcome increase in the recreational use of craigavon’s natural assets. Unfortunately, this investment has not been fully appreciated due to the high levels of aquatic weed that limit all reacreation al activities, including fishing, rowing, boating and sailing. Aquatic weed traps litter and other passing objects, making the river bank and waterways appear unkempt and at times unusuable for recreation. Excessive weed also leads to sunlight being blocked out and this leads to a marked reduction in invertebrates which also has a knock on effect for fish stocks.
