Clapham Common Regeneration Project Phase Five

This project builds upon four years of work which we have undertaking with the FoCC and Lambeth Council to regenerate areas of the park which have been neglected and under used in addition to replacing Victorian legacy trees which are reaching the end of their natural lives. Over the past few years, with the support of WREF we have planted over 100 standard trees and over 1,000 whips in the park; greatly increasing the biodiversity of the area and increasing its use by local people. This year we plan to create a community orchard, a new woodland and continue with replacing specimen trees in the park. The orchard will consist of 20 trees of various heritage varieties will provide interest and free produce for the community. At Windmill Hill we will plant 1,000 native whips, creating a woodland planted with species which will encourage foraging and natural play. We will plant a further 15 standard replacement trees.
