Clara Vale Conservation Group

This group was established in 1985 to create a reserve on the site of the former Clara Vale colliery. The group has recently been granted Local Nature Reserve status by English Nature. It has also established a community orchard and has produced a teaching pack for local schools. Over 1000 people visit the reserve each year.
