Clayhidon Turbary Restoration Project

To restore 13.7 hectares of lowland heathland habitat to benefit wildlife, enhance public access and engage local community volunteers. Clayhidon Turbary’s lowland heathland has suffered from insufficient management resource for many years. This project will allow Devon Wildlife Trust to work with the local community to bring Clayhidon back into favourable condition for wildlife and people by removing dense scrub, cutting and raking bracken, grading the woodland edge, creating glades, re-instating grazing, re-opening overgrown footpaths and providing discreet interpretation and signage, the project will make the nature reserve considerably more accessible and enjoyable for local people to visit.
