CLONES: Multi-use Community Area

Renovate a landmark site into a multi-purpose eco-facility offering exciting social, learning and recreational opportunities; its core will be a diversionary (community) go-karting facility. Through exemplar development it will enhance and reinforce an established tourist/leisure corridor (sailing club, 23 turbine windfarm, SSSI, LNR, migration flyway, West Yorkshie cycleway) in the South Pennines Heritage Area. A key focus will be PSHCE development of 1,000s of the sub-Region’s young people. The site – an abandoned quarry – adjoins a panoramic tourist route (to/from Bronte Country) but has been derelict and unsightly (fly tipping) for some considerable time. Habitat restoration will deliver a sustainable, inclusive and lasting amenity, sympathetic to its natural setting
