Closed Loop Exemplar Site: ABLE2

Improve a landmark urban / rural fringe site into a multi – purpose eco-facility offering exciting social, learning and recreational opportunities: its core zones will feature sustainable fishery and wellbeing activities. Through exemplar development it will enhance and reinforce an established leisure corridor (Spen Valley Greenway, river, nature reserve, therapeutic centre and children’s farm ) with a wealth of heritage. A key focus will be PSHCE development of Leeds City Region’s young people. The extensive site – formerly a landfill between disused railway tracks – adjoins an extremely accessible and high profile Sustrans route. ABLE2 will deliver a sustainable, inclusive and inspiring local amenity, integral to the communities in North Kirklees.
