Cockermouth Green Resource Centre

Cockermouth Green Resource Centre is a joint venture between GWNE and Riversmeet (a network of active citizens based in Cockermouth providing environmental, community and business ideas and projects focused on improving life in the town). The building will house the GWNE office on the first floor and provide a community space for Riversmeet activities on the ground floor.
The building will be used as an example of best practice relating to sustainable, energy efficient retrofitting of older properties, in addition to its role as a community space for hire and a space to deliver Riversmeet’s planned programme of activity. This programme will include education/training events and displays relating to recycling and reuse, local food production and energy production and efficiency. It is anticipated that the community space will be open 19 hours a week increasing to evenings and full days in the second year.
