Cody Dock, London – Visitor Centre (006560)

Construction of a 150sqm purpose made community centre, with activity space, cafe, canteen, reception, toilets and charity shop that will provide the central focus for Cody Dock’s public realm development plans.
The project will engage upwards of 500 volunteers in the construction phase and on its completion will culminate in a celebratory opening launch event and cater for over 30,000 visitors per year.
The design is based on a simple yet beautiful robust structural timber frame repeated across the length of the building. The single floor double height glass clad frame creates an open, airy, flexible space and a large south facing roof that has been designed to take photovoltaics solar panels. The building’s design and use of natural materials will further demonstrate Cody Dock’s commitment to sustainable design and open onto its award winning gardens and riverside paths.
