Colchester Rugby Football Club – Floodlighting of second rugby pitch

To install a full set of floodlights on one of the rugby pitches – to the standard laid down by the National Governing Body as being suitable for mid level competitive matches. Included are all the necessary electricity supply upgrades required to meet safety standards. CRFC is the designated site for rugby football in the Colchester Borough Council Development Plan for Sport and is available for hire by other organised rugby bodies.
CRFC’s aim to provide access to rugby union football with appropriate, accessible and safe facilities open to all ages, races, creeds, sex, ability, etc.
The three driving forces for this project are:
CRFC have overgrown the current floodlit facilities and the Floodlit Pitch is overused.
When a floodlit match takes place – the training facilities are greatly reduced by nearly 70% so training becomes cramped and sometimes cannot take place.
An additional floodlit pitch would enable the facility to be used more for playing and training by all user groups.
