Common Ground Community Centre, Sheffield – Solar Panels and Electric Upgrade (008011)

Common Ground Community Centre is a vibrant, growing community hub within a diverse and disadvantaged area and run entirely by volunteers. There is no gas supply all the heating and energy comes from mains electric. The building has a large south facing roof and solar panels (and battery storage) is an obvious choice to lower the environmental footprint, showcase renewable energy to the community and ensure the long term future of the centre. At the same time the dated electric system will be upgraded. It is estimated the site has >15,000 visits per year from 28 different user groups, the works will ensure that these groups can continue to support their community.
